Road Tripping into Tasty Plates
Explore dining in my local area. Some favs and newbies!
I’m back from my stateside snacking spree, and the DMV did not come to play. From cheeseburgers to pasta to the adult beverages, your girl ate well, drank well, and lived her best foodie life.
Let’s start in Alexandria, VA, where Jon’s Joint reminded me why a good cheeseburger can fix almost anything. The moment you walk in, you’re hit with that authentic, retro‑movie‑night vibe—posters, music, nostalgia everywhere. And that burger? Whew. Juicy, fresh, buttery bun… the kind of burger that makes you close your eyes and reevaluate your priorities. Second visit, but definitely not my last.
Next stop: Sette Osteria in DC, home of the carbonara that owns my heart. I’ve been here five times—yes, five—and I regret nothing. Creamy, smoky, silky, guanciale doing what guanciale does best. Your taste buds will write you a thank‑you note.
Next: The Alchemist—where the drinks are theatrical and the vibes are immaculate. My Goblet of Fire came out flaming like it was auditioning for Broadway. Delicious, warm, cinnamon‑apple magic. My friends’ drinks were also stunning… allegedly. I forgot to take pictures. I’m still grieving.
For dinner with elegance, La Vie swept me off my feet. The Lobster Risotto? Emotional. I smiled. I felt hugged. I scraped the plate like it owed me money.
Final stop: Azumi in Baltimore. I ordered a lychee martini (RIP to the unphotographed beauty) and the Popcorn Shrimp Roll, which arrived with presentation so extra it deserved its own theme music. And yes—it tasted as good as it looked.
As always, I’m grateful to share these experiences with you. My parting words: “Savor each moment.” I lived by it.
